Destin serious about protecting the harbor from effects from the oil spill

booming strategy for the Destin Pass, the key area of concern for Okaloosa County, was approved with the action plan.

But the strategy had to be abandoned and a new one adopted last weekend after the original plan was deployed and discovered to interfere with Coast Guard navigation.

Okaloosa County Public Safety Director Dino Villani said Tuesday he believes the new strategy to be as good as any devised on the Gulf Coast.
