booming strategy for the Destin Pass, the key area of concern for Okaloosa County, was approved with the action plan.
But the strategy had to be abandoned and a new one adopted last weekend after the original plan was deployed and discovered to interfere with Coast Guard navigation.
Okaloosa County Public Safety Director Dino Villani said Tuesday he believes the new strategy to be as good as any devised on the Gulf Coast.

We are getting mixed messages of the spill NOAA shows it a ways off the shore of Pensacola , some captains in pensacola have reported a sheen 10 miles off thier coast. There are no effects in Destin fishing boats have been out on the water and seen no sheens from Destin.The air is still [...]

At this time, the placement of booms in East Pass has begun as a precautionary measure. The booms will not be extended into place yet.
